Doing Business as Rountree Gallery
Spring Membership Letter
As many of you already aware, Rountree Gallery no longer has a physical location to call their own. For those who are not aware of this, it occurred when the Platteville City Council decided not to provide a space for or fund the entity. However, this does not mean that the gallery has disappeared. It is just displaying the Rountree Gallery Artists work at various locations, such as, WI Bank and Trust and Clare Bank in Platteville as well as the new Platteville Public Library. We intend to continue with revolving exhibits of artist members art works until such time as we can afford a place of our own.
To continue exhibiting at these locations and maybe others, we need to have additional artists that are willing to share their expertise in their mediums. If you wish to exhibit at one or more of these locations, please let us know and we will get you on the schedule. So far we have been able to exhibit only 2 dimensional works, but we will soon be including 3 dimensional works when we move the gallery cabinets to these locations. This will allow a much wider variety of art work that can be displayed and we can reach out to more artists.
To continue exhibiting, we need additional funds to cover publicity, storage, insurance, and other incidental fees. To have a place of our own, we need to be creating a fund to cover rent, utilities, insurance, marketing, and supplies for special events.
How do we begin to raise funds? The first thing we can do is to increase our membership. By joining, not only will you be assisting us with funding, but you will be providing us with a source of art work that can be exhibited at any or all of the locations.
Not only will you be helping Rountree Gallery with funding and providing artists for the exhibits, but we are hoping that you are willing to spend a little time volunteering to help hang an exhibit, act as a docent for some of the exhibits, demonstrate your art form, bring food for a reception, teach a class, serve on the Gallery Board, and spread the word about the gallery exhibits and the need that we have for artist members. You are not an artist. You can still help support the gallery and offer to volunteer
This is a list of artists exhibiting at this time. If you would like to show your work, please let us know.
Lois Mueller, firstname.lastname@example.org is coordinating the bank exhibits and Nancy Collins, email@example.com is scheduling the exhibits at the library. We are waiting for your offer to display your work. We may be contacting you as well.
